Three Things to Consider Before Having an Abortion

1. You should verify your pregnancy with an ultrasound.

A positive pregnancy test alone doesn’t confirm you’re pregnant. In fact, some tests produce a false-positive result if you’ve miscarried and your hCG levels haven’t decreased to normal levels yet.

We provide free pregnancy testing that is highly accurate. If you receive a positive result, we’ll offer an ultrasound that verifies the following information:

  • Whether you have a viable pregnancy (it is progressing and there is a heartbeat)
  • How far along you are (gestational age)
  • Where the pregnancy is located

Knowing these details and what to consider before having an abortion can help you weigh options and learn whether you have a condition like an ectopic pregnancy, which requires emergency treatment. With the facts in hand, you can make a confident decision.

2. Speaking with your healthcare provider is crucial.

Your healthcare provider can review your medical history and potential eligibility for an abortion procedure. They can discuss your unique situation and additional factors as you move toward a decision.

This is especially important as abortion isn’t an option for everyone. For example, women shouldn’t have a medical abortion if they have certain bleeding disorders or are more than 10 weeks along.

Speaking with your provider can shed light on any concerns and determine how an abortion procedure could impact your health.

3. Learning about your options is essential.

The pregnancy decision is yours. Whichever choice you make impacts your life the most, so our nonjudgmental, compassionate team will help you get the facts.

We’ll discuss each pregnancy option: abortion, adoption, and parenting. You’ll learn the risks and side effects of abortion and ask questions to help gain insight into your specific circumstances.

Our team never pressures you to select one option over the other. Additionally, no one should coerce you into making a decision you feel uncomfortable with. We are here to be a trustworthy resource of things to consider before having an abortion.
